Grand Forks School Board does not renew principal’s contract

By Jim Johnson Apr 30, 2024 | 10:44 AM

(KNOX) – A simple majority of Grand Forks School Board votes was all that was needed to not renew the contract of Ben Franklin principal Joshua May-hot Monday evening.
In his second year, May-hot’s contract falls under a North Dakota Century Code Statute that does not give the right to a nonrenewal hearing.
Superintendent Terry Brenner said the grounds for May-hot’s dismissal included poor communication, negativity, trust and security.
Board president Amber Flynn cast the tie-breaking vote.

May-hot will receive written notice of the board’s decision before Wednesday…along with information on his right to meet with the board in executive session at a later date…to convey their reasons for nonrenewal.
